Every Satellite, Live

About this piece
A live 3D map of every satellite in orbit.
How many satellites are in orbit?
There are 16,755 active satellites in orbit, according to CelesTrak's data as of . About two in every three of them (11,151) are Starlink. Every one of them is on the globe above, moving in real time.
Where is the ISS right now?
The International Space Station (NORAD 25544) flies about 430 km up and goes all the way round the Earth about every 93 minutes. Choose “ISS” on the globe to follow it live, or open the globe on the ISS.
What satellites are above me right now?
Tap “What's above me?” and share your location, or click the globe to pick a place. You'll see how many satellites are more than 10° above your horizon, which are likely visible to the eye (sunlit, not too far away, while your sky is dark), and when the ISS next passes over. Your location stays on your device.
What is a Starlink train?
Soon after a launch, a batch of Starlink satellites flies close together in a line, like a string of lights. “Newest launch” highlights the most recent launch from the last 30 days, with how long ago it went up.
Where does the data come from, and how accurate is it?
Orbits come from CelesTrak's public GP data, refreshed at most every two hours, and every position is computed in your browser with the SGP4 model. Positions are approximate: not for navigation, collision assessment or any safety purpose. Prefer reading to 3D? See every satellite as a list, or read the sources and credits.
